BURNT WORK.
PART III.—THE TOOLS AND THEIR USES.—(Concluded.)

by Harriet Keith Fobes

THE DELINEATOR Magazine, May 1895 issue, pp. 734–736.
Butterick Publishing Co., London & New York.

This is the third in a series of eleven monthly articles on burnt work by American artist Harriet Keith Fobes for The Delineator magazine.

In this third article, Fobes details carefully both the features and uses of the thermo-pyrography tool, in ways that no other author has that the E-Museum's Research Dept. has seen until now.

In addition, she even talks about the electric pyrography tool, which is also surprising at this early date before it is in popular usage. She refers to both tools with the term "cautery," which is indicative of their original medical purpose.

If you have either any questions to ask or any information to offer regarding works or articles by Harriet Keith Fobes, please e-mail the E-Museum Curator.
