By an unknown artist is the 18th Century Venetian Cedar Wood Chest exhibited above. At the Dreweatts web site linked here for a 2007 auction in Donnington Priory in the U.K., it was described as "...decorated overall with pokerwork figural scenes and motifs in the Renaissance style, the centre of the hinged, rectangular cover with a monumental armorial on a cross-hatched ground, flanked by rectangular reserves depicting nobles and soldiery in landscapes, with conforming sides and front, with iron lock and key, 61 cm high, 162 cm wide, (restoration, later castors)."
If you have either any questions to ask or any information to offer regarding this 18th C. Venetian Chest, please e-mail the E-Museum Curator.
