Michel Béziat is the owner of these two lovely pyrography works that were done by his mother back in the 1950's when because of ill health she was confined to a sanatorium far from her home for over a year.

These works reflect a style popular at that time in France, where there were many publications back then offering instruction in pyrogravure as it is called there (a French term often used in English language art circles, as well). Pyrography was often used in institutions that offered physical, art, and occupational therapy, and that sanatorium in France's beautiful Basque Country was no exception.

More of Rose Sié's story is told in an illustrated article entitled Rose Sié: Her Son Remembers.

If you have either any questions to ask or any information to offer regarding this or any pyrographic works by Rose Sié, please e-mail the E-Museum Curator.
