British collector David Plunton acquired the above panel in 2008 from former owner Major Frank McMillen USAF (ret) who bought it in 1961 from an antique shop in Felixstowe, England.
This beautiful work of art is verified to be one of three known pieces from Ralph Marshall's Candlelight Series. The other two pieces are in the world renowned Pinto Collection at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, England. Ralph Marshall was awarded a medal for his pyrographic works, exhibited at The Great Exhibition of 1851.
For more information about Ralph Marshall, see p.2 of the article Pyrograffiti 30 of the September–October 2004 issue of the WOM, where this piece was featured.
If you have any questions or any information regarding this piece, please e-mail David Plunton and the E-Museum Curator.
