American artist Marshall Stokes does not use color with his pyrography; however, he does add electronic components to some of his works to create assemblages such as his works Mecha Scanner and Hard Drive Sunrise displayed above. Other works have to do with woven and interlocking forms, which he visualizes, then draws in pencil, then burns into wood (usually redwood) panels.
His education was in Boston where he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology majoring in Architectural Engineering Technology. He has been living in northern California pursuing a snowboarding dream and his art career. He has recently relocated to the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area.
Marshall Stokes' story and art works are highlighted in an illustrated article in Pyrograffiti 33 in the March–April 2005 issue of WOM.
