Pyrography on Wood and Leather
Treatment of Designs by V.S.F.

Adapted from the article "Pyrography on Wood and Leather" from
The Modern-Priscilla: Authority on Art Needle-Work magazine,
The Priscilla Publishing Company, Boston, Massachusetts, March 1908, p. 31.

The 1908 article here entitled "Pyrography on Wood and Leather: Treatment of Designs by V.S.F," for The Modern Priscilla magazine, is one of the few illustrated pyrography articles that is more about ideas and designs than specific techniques for the beginner. This article and the magazine in general are geared toward the accomplished artist and artisan. There was no indication to be found in the magazine itself as to the identity of V.S.F. This was the only article in this magazine where no author's name was provided.

Of particular interest in this article were the suggestions for varied and alternative techniques that could be applicable to the designs provided. In some cases, the suggestions were for combining techniques.

If you have either any questions to ask or any additional information to offer about the pyrography or the author of this pyrography article in The Modern Priscilla magazine, please e-mail the E-Museum Curator.
