The owner of this lovely old piece, Martha Innis knows almost nothing regarding the origins of it. As noted in the captions, the pyrographic work is on velvet and the only color apart from the burning is on the painted crescent moon. It is signed simply A. M. and there is no date. The pyrograph is mounted in a handsome oak firescreen.
