Australian abstract artist Katherine Boland sells her work through the Artefact International Gallery in Melbourne. At her solo show there in spring 2003, she added—for the first time—wood burning and blow torching techniques to her mixed-media abstract works. Her powerful Artist's Statement offers an insight into her inspiration for this series, which she calls On Fire.

See Katherine Boland's story and more examples of her abstract art in Pyrograffiti 23 in the May–June 2003 issue of the Woodcarvers Online Magazine (WOM).
