Adapted from The International Studio, New York, pp. 18–21 (xviii–xxi), Vol. LVI, No. 221, July 1915.

Following are the French inscriptions found at the bottom of each panel and their respective translations to English:

1. THE ENTRY OF CHARLES VII INTO RHEIMS:
Il n'est rien d'impossible à la puissance de Dieu =
Nothing is impossible before the power of God

2. THE HEAVENLY VOICES:
I am a poor girl who knows nothing of waging war

3. THE CORONATION OF CHARLES VII
The true king to whom the kingdom of France must belong.

4. THE ENTRY OF JEANNE D'ARC INTO ORLEANS:
Dieu voulait que je levasse le siege d'Orléans =
God willed that I raise the siege of Orleans

5. THE GLORIFICATION OF JEANNE D'ARC:
Mes voeux sont pour mon Dieu ma patrie et mon roi =
My wishes are for my God, my country and my king

The 1915 article "A Pentaptych by J. W. Fosdick" was written by W. Laurel Harris who himself was a well known artist of his time. Of great value in this article are the careful descriptions of the art work and its symbols, the Joan of Arc history, as well as the diligent inclusion of titles and owners of additional works by Fosdick.

Coincidentally, in the March issue of The International Studio that year, in addition to one article there on W. Laurel Harris, which is linked from his name in the paragraph above, was another that was written by J. Wm. Fosdick. The article "THE ARCHITECTURAL LEAGUE OF NEW YORK," pp. 23–26, was a description of all of the integrated exhibits of the art and architecture in that organization's annual display. On page 25, Fosdick mentions his own work:
"The east wall of this gallery is dominated by a pentaptych of painted panels on wood by J. William Fosdick, illustrative of the life of Joan of Arc."
On that same page, he also makes mention of the work of his colleague:
"William Laurel Harris has demonstrated his facility of expression with various mediums in his decorative panels and frames."
