From the private collection of Andreas Haralambous is this 1816 panel by English artist Joseph Smith. Andreas acquired the panel from a bookdealer and friend about 25 years ago and then had it framed at that time. The inscription burnt on the back of the panel—Smith, Pyrog[raphist], 1816—does not appear to indicate Smith's location, as he typically inscribed on other panels, which was usually Skipton or Skipton Castle.
In the Pinto Collection at the Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery in England, there is an 1810 full-length portrait by Joseph Smith of John Jeffreys (after a painting by Hoppner), as well as a pyrograph of Tigers. An article entitled The Pinto Collection: Important 19th C. Pyrographic Artists highlights research and notes by conservator Susan Millis on that collection.
