Puerto Rican pyrographic artist José Pelegrina-Vissepo specializes in portraits and is a student of the indigenous peoples of the Americas, who often appear as the subject of his portraits.

José Pelegrina-Vissepo's story and more of his art work were featured in Pyrograffiti 18 in the July–August 2002 issue of the Woodcarvers Online Magazine.
