Solar pyrography is the unusual specialty of Canadian artist Bud "Solarbud" Hnetka. His very original monochrome compositions are executed with a magnifying glass to focus the sun's rays on wood panels.
Solarbud Hnetka has been featured in two issues of the Woodcarvers Online Magazine: When he was first introduced in September–October 1999 in Pyrograffiti 2 and later telling the story of how it all started and his plans for the future in the January–February 2007 Pyrograffiti 40.
Bud is interested in finding others who use this technique to compare results and methods. If you also work in this technique, or would like to learn more about this artist, his artwork, or technique, contact Bud directly by e-mail.
